Boston Summer Concert Series Upgrades to Technomad Paris Sound System

For more than 20 years, Boston residents and visitors have enjoyed the sounds of New England summer at the waterfront Boston Harbor Hotel’s Summer Concert Series. For the event’s 22nd year, the ‘Summer in the City Entertainment Series’ got a boost from Jeff Hansen’s All Tech Sound and Production Services Group, Inc. with the installation of six new Technomad Paris speakers.

The new sound system replaced 15-year-old speakers. To find the best solution for the crowd-friendly outdoor event running Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights each summer from June through August, Hansen’s team researched the best products available on the market. The biggest challenge for the installation was moving sight lines between the individual speakers. Installed on pylons in the ocean, which also hold the Boston Harbor Hotel’s visitor-friendly dock, the speakers abut a dock that moves up and down with the water line. The concert series needed low-profile speakers installed that were both pleasing to the eye for thousands of visitors who pass by weekly, but also offered good sound dispersion, while overcoming the sight-line challenge.

Technomad Paris speakers were the only audio product on the market that All Tech Sound found that fit the full bill. “We were looking for something that gave us good coverage and excellent sound quality,” said Jeff Hansen, owner, All Tech Sound and Production Services Group, Inc. “The new Technomad Paris speakers give the outdoor Boston Harbor Hotel’s Summer Concert Series a much warmer sound, very good dispersion throughout a wide area, and a great sound quality. For speakers with such a low profile, this is an impressive mix.”

The Technomad MP Series offers weatherproof, full-range speakers that are compact in design and high in performance. Built for permanent outdoor installation to work in all weather conditions, the speakers offer horn-loaded compression drivers paired with powerful state-of-the-art low frequency drivers to produce clear and intelligible sound in any environment. The Paris is the largest and most powerful of the MP Series.

During the summer series, concert goers relax to the sounds of Sinatra, Big Bands, and Jazz. The free concerts are a summer highlight for visitors to Boston’s Harborwalk Terrace and one of the city’s most anticipated summer traditions for long-time residents. As the sun sets, the harbor comes alive with the upbeat sound of bands performing on the hotel’s floating barge stage. This year they sound even better!

Popular industrial-grade audio player now triggers relays and outside devices automatically

Boston – May 23, 2021 – Technomad announces a new contact closure option for the company’s popular Schedulon automatic audio player. To be released July 1, the new feature allows users to easily control external devices with the Schedulon as well as trigger playback events with external contacts. The contact closure option provides eight pairs of contacts on the rear of the chassis. Each set of contacts can be set as an input or an output trigger, and each closure can be programmed independently, while still maintaining the stand-alone functionality of the unit.

“With the Schedulon, our goal has always been to create a product which is both highly configurable yet simple to program. When developing the new contact closure feature, one goal we had was to keep that ease of use, even while expanding the capabilities of the unit,” said Technomad Vice President Rodger von Kries. “The new contact closure option is still easily configured using a modern web browser and does not require the Schedulon to be connected to a computer to operate on a schedule. The operator also won’t need to read a 200-page manual to get the unit up and running, thanks to the user-friendly web interface.”

The output contacts can be programmed for triggering on the same variety of schedule parameters as audio playback events, including date, time and day of the week. Schedule events can be set to both play an audio file and trigger an external device simultaneously. It also includes an extremely accurate onboard real-time clock chip for precision. Input triggers can play both single audio files as well as audio playlists, similar to the knob playback feature of the unit.

Vernal Loudspeakers from Technomad Welcome Christmas Spirit to Norwood

While the holidays were anything but traditional in 2020, a recent installation of Vernal speakers from Technomad welcomed the season in style to the city square in Norwood, MA. The city of Norwood wanted to share music throughout its city square and park, and Parsons Audio recommended the Technomad Vernal as a great weatherproof option. The speakers now ring with Christmas carols, holiday, and light classical music for all to enjoy.

Parsons Audio is a leading dealer in professional audio products in New England, Florida and beyond. Parsons also offers expertise in installation and ongoing customer support and has successfully installed a variety of Technomad products for clients.

“The city and its residents are really happy with the speakers and sent us a video on the first snowy day with Christmas carols playing as the snow swirled around,” said Roger Talkov, managing partner for Parsons Audio, based in Wellesley. “We’ve had a lot of positive feedback about these compact speakers that work great no matter what the weather conditions.

Norwood, “the town everyone returns to,” also hosts “Carillon Concerts on the Common,” which feature church bells and music in addition to other summer concerts and outdoor music.

The Vernal line of ultra-compact, full-range speakers from Technomad is peerless in performance and design. Built for permanent outdoor installation in all climates, the speakers account for higher ambient noise levels in the great outdoors to produce clear sounds through state-of-the-art low-frequency drivers.

The smallest speaker in the Technomad MP Series, the Vernal is 9 by 6 by 6 inches and only weighs 8.5 pounds, making for easy installation. Available in 14 colors, the speakers include dual-mode operation and can be wall- or yoke-mounted.

In addition to the compact speakers, Parsons Audio has also installed Technomad’s Carillon systems and the Schedulon Automatic Audio Player, among other local sound installations. The world’s best outdoor PA systems have been made in Massachusetts since 1995.

Wildcat Stadium Upgrades to Technomad IPA3 Audio System

As fans file into the bleachers at the Home of the Wildcats, the crowd can now clearly hear the EHS Fight Song as it fills the entire Wildcat Stadium over the recently upgraded PA System. Enterprise High School in Enterprise Alabama chose a top-of-the line Scoreboard PA System to provide great-sounding audio quality at their Stadium. The system is simple to install and operate, producing clear speech and playing satisfying music year-round.   The system is based on Technomad’s flagship Berlin 15H outdoor stadium loudspeaker.

Not only does the high-powered Scoreboard PA system project sound clearly, but also can weather harsh elements from intense humidity to powerful storms. Technomad’s loudspeakers have proven their weather resistant abilities by regularly withstanding the severe and unpredictable weather in the Gulf of Mexico. The U.S. made and military-derived loudspeakers were created to overcome any challenge with ease.

The weatherproof system will continue to bring high-quality sound to every game at Wildcat Stadium, rain or shine.

At Technomad, we combine advanced weatherproofing technology with military-specification enclosures and first-rate acoustic designs.    The result?  Clear, intelligible speech and high-quality music even in challenging outdoor applications.

Western North Carolina Nature Center Upgrades to Technomad

IMAGOS Entertainment in Miami writes,

“I hope all is well with you and the folks at Technomad!

I just wanted to share with you some pictures from a recent project involving Technomad loudspeakers and mounts.

These pictures are from the WNC Nature Center‘s new Grand Entrance and Festival Events Plaza. We installed three 70v Viennas and mounts with one of the speakers providing audio to the new entrance parking area and the other two units providing coverage the Plaza.  …the weatherproof Vienna’s provide excellent sound reinforcement for live events as well as regular and seasonal background music.  The client was very impressed with the quality of sound and it’s ability to withstand the elements (the Vienna that provides audio to the parking entrance is fully exposed and was constantly getting rained on while we were installing it!).

The last picture from this group is from a previous Technomad installation at the Zoo (you may remember it as the Otter Falls exhibit).

I call it “Technomad: Communing with Nature”. By the way, that system is still going strong and used everyday without issue.

If you have any questions, please feel free to give me a call.

Thank you,
